Flooring FAQs
How long does a hard flooring installation take?
On site, vinyl typically takes one to two days, a floating floor two to three days, and a sand and polish about a week. Lead time from approval is usually two to three weeks for hard flooring, since these products are less likely than carpet to be held in stock.
It depends on the products being installed, as well as the size of the area where they are being installed. Vinyl floors typically take 1-2 days, floating floors 2-3 days, and a sand & polish takes 1 week.
What flooring is suitable for bathrooms and laundries?
Vinyl. Of the hard flooring Investa Projects supplies, vinyl is the most suitable product for wet areas because it is fully waterproof. Hybrid is water resistant rather than waterproof, which is enough for a kitchen but not for a bathroom or laundry floor.
On the flooring side, vinyl is the most suitable product in our range for wet areas. It is heavily waterproof.
What is the difference between hybrid, laminate and engineered timber flooring?
Engineered timber is a real timber veneer on a plywood base, so every plank looks different. Laminate has the same plywood core with a printed timber image, which costs less and resists scratches. Hybrid has a limestone core, which makes it water resistant, hard-wearing and scratch resistant. Neither engineered timber nor laminate should go anywhere with heavy water exposure.
There are several differences between our hybrid flooring, laminate flooring, and engineered timber flooring.
Engineered timber flooring is made of a thin timber veneer layer on top of a plywood base. The plywood provides durability whereas the veneer layer provides a natural, premium finish since each plank will look unique. We offer planks in European Oak as well as Australian species.
Laminate flooring, on the other hand, has the same plywood core with a printed image on top giving you the timber without breaking the bank and can hold up well against scratches. However, similarly to engineered timber flooring, laminate flooring is not water-resistant and should not be used in areas with a lot of water exposure.
Hybrid flooring is made of a limestone core which makes it water-resistant, hard-wearing and scratch-resistant. Therefore, if you are after the timber look but also want something long-lasting, look no further than our hybrid floorings.
